8/22/23

 Today was Adam's first day of school.  Jared took him to school.  Jacob did some packing and then I took him to town and dropped him off at the barber.  I took a package to the post office and he was done before I got back.  We headed to Lansing arriving around 11:30.  Jared accidentally got in the line to unload.  Jacob didn't want to get there early because it was his roommates time to get there.  We left the line and went to get something to eat for lunch at McDonalds.  We went to the police department to get Jacob a bike permit.  Also stopped at the bike shop.  We went back to Mayo hall at 1:30.  Unloaded everything into three carts.  Jacob's roommate was still unpacking and had alot of things in the room.  He has alot of clothes and shoes so brought a shoe rack and an Ikea dresser that his Dad put together.  Jacob's bed was down low so they lofted it to a higher level.  It's a small room.  Jacob's roommate, Eric, and his parents seemed nice.  Eric is an opera singer who got a full scholarship.  He is also doing music education.  We talked to his dad in the hall for a long time because it was too crowded in the room.  Jacob enjoyed unpacking and getting his room set up.  It was very hot in the room.  We went to the van to get the extra fan we'd brought.  Jacob decided to keep that fan also. We facetimed Grandma and also Aunt Bippi and Nana to show them the room.  They gave Jacob's helper vouchers for food at the Landon hall.  We ate some good food there and visited with Eric's parents.  Jacob sure isn't going to go hungry.  We had pizza and Eli had a burger and a chicken sandwich.  We also made soft serve ice cream and had a spice cupcake.  Eric's parents are big fans of Dr Pol.   It was about 9:00 when we said our goodbyes.  Jacob gave me a couple big long hugs.  He also gave Eli a big hug.  Eli said he was expecting to get punched.  Haha.  We sure are going to miss him like crazy!  Also super excited for him.  Sounds like Adam had a great first day of school.  Nana and Aunt Bippi picked him up from soccer practice.  He is happy to have his first hour class with Claire.  And they also have the same lunch.  He likes his welding class.  My feet hurt so bad.  I wore shoes that I'm not used to and stood alot today.  Uncle Rick called on the drive home.  We got home around 10:30.  Jacob was going to a 9:00 movie at MSU.
