Nana and Jacob playing catch with the balloon.

Adam's happy that Eli shares so nicely. First he gave him a big kiss.
The boys had Eli help organize the colors.

School was canceled today because of the extremely cold weather.  Our hot water pipes were frozen this morning.  Jared got the heater going in the crawl space and by the afternoon they were thawed.  The boys helped me get my cleaning and laundry done today.  They were such good helpers.  Jacob kept asking what else he could do.  He said, "I really am having fun helping you clean."  This evening Nana and Papa came over to celebrate Eli turning 4!  We made a pizza for dinner.  Eli got a the Lego Grand Prix truck set from Nana and Papa and $1.  Jacob and Adam enjoyed putting together the set for him.  Eli organized colors into groups.  We sang to Eli and then had cake and ice cream.

Eli got a card and some stickers in the mail from Aunt Vikki and Uncle Terry!

Today Jacob's class took a field trip to the Planetarium.  He had lots of fun there and was really excited to talk about his trip.

Jacob liked typing his spelling words to practice.

I can't believe its Eli's last week being 3!

This evening we had parent/teacher conferences for Jacob.  Jacob has met the reading goal set for him and is reading at a level K!  Mr Henderson and Mr Goff made a big deal about it, taking him in the hallway and giving him high fives.  Mr Henderson has been real happy with Jacob overall and had good things to say.  Jacob is finally leaving his glasses on his face so Mr Henderson doesn't have to get the duck tape out.  Jacob is doing good in math, though he is still struggling to pass the addition timed tests.  He has his own method for figuring out multiplication and they call it the "Jacob Method."  Jacob showed it to the class and some of the kids have started using his method.

We had parent/teacher conferences this evening for Adam.  Mrs Sheffer, who is Adam's Title 1 teacher, was also there to speak with us.  Adam continues to struggle in reading.  During read to self time he is consistently off task.  He needs many reminders during reading to stay focused. He's not disruptive, just off task. During writing time he has a hard time thinking of things to write about.  He is doing good in math.

This weekend Jared and I sheared the ewes.  We did 7 sheep today and will do the other 4 tomorrow. We will shear Maude and Kenny when it warms up.
