We added a stair handrail 

We got to my parents house around 7:30 this morning.  Vikki was there helping my parents dig for their pool.  We worked together and got it dug down so its ready for sand.  The boys and Jared emptied many wheelbarrow loads of dirt.  Mom had to make a trip to home depot for a line level.  Mom kept us hydrate with tea and pops.  It was hot and humid outside. It was hot work but we all had a good time.  We stopped at a couple stores on the way home.  Jared and I worked on putting up a handrail on the little pool deck.  The stairs are narrow so it definitely needed a rail.  Adam and Eli went swimming.  Jacob wanted to but can't because of his stitches.  Jared and I recovered a couple chairs and the card table with new vinyl.  This evening we watched Dukes of Hazards.  Took a walk in the woods.

This afternoon we worked on building a little deck for our pool.  We were able to use a lot of boards we already had.  Adam and Eli went swimming.  Nik's family came over and asked me to look at their dog (an old cocker spaniel) who was just attacked by Megan's pitbull. They were also bit by the dog when they tried to separate them. The dog had multiple deep puncture wounds and its eye was swollen and looked really bad.  I told them he was going to need stitches and they should take him to the pet ER.  The boys were happy to see Nik and got to talk to him for a few minutes before they had to leave.  Nik had been bit on his hand.

The boys worked hard digging in wet clay.  We are putting in a drainage pipe.

It was a beautiful day today.  The boys did school work.  Still no zoom meetings.  We sat on the deck and I played chess with Adam.  I worked on the flowerbeds and then worked in the woods.  Daddy came home for lunch and we ate on the deck. The boys all joined to play minecraft. After lunch we watched a Little House.  I made banana bread and rice krispie treats.   Daddy got out of work around 4:00 and we headed to Nana and Papa's house.  We are celebrating the boys birthday's.  Vikki and her family came too.  We all sat around the fire.  It started to rain so we went under the big maple tree for awhile.  After awhile we thought it stopped raining so went back out by the fire.  It was still raining so we decided to go back under the maple tree.  It was funny.  We sang to the boys and all had goodies.  We went back around the fire after it was done raining. The boys opened birthday gifts from Nana and Papa.  Adam and Eli got surf boards and legos.  Eli got a small basketball.  Jacob got a buck knife and some rival darts.  Jacob whittled on a stick.  We headed home just after 8:00.  Nana gave the boys some pretzels and chips to snack on.  We warmed up left over tacos at home and watched a Beverly Hillbillies.

Our wifi was down this morning so the boys couldn't work on school work.  We spent a lot of time on the deck.  Adam and I played several games of chess.  He won 3 out of our 4 games.  Daddy came home a little early for lunch and we ate on the deck.  He and Adam played chess and Adam won.  We decided to take a drive to look at the lakes after the flood.  We drove around for a long time.  We also stopped at the stihl store and dropped off our weedwacker to be worked on.  At home Daddy and Adam played chess.  Adam was the big winner again.  He won 3 out of 4.  He and Jacob played and Jacob won the first game and Adam the second.  Jacob was happy to finally win after many losses.  We worked on the deck this evening drilling holes for the cable railing.  The boys had a water fight and Eli got soaked.  We watched a Dukes of Hazards before bed.

Ouch!!

We drove over this bridge a couple times yesterday.  

Woke up to an alert on my phone about a dike that broke.  All the boys school zoom meetings were canceled today due to the flooding.  They still had school work that could be done.  It was a beautiful day today.  After lunch we watched a Little House.  Adam and I played many games of chess and I won one of them.  Eli had I played and Eli won.  Went outside to see the fish in the pond and then worked in the woods.  Jacob said he was going to chop woods.  Not long after we were out there  I heard Jacob from the deck saying, "You need to come see this!  I cut my shin with the ax!!"  Eli imitates me putting both hands on my head saying, "What!" I ran to the house.  Jared said, "He's gonna need stitches."  I wrapped it with gauze and we headed to Urgent care in Freeland.  Midland hospital is closed because of the flood.  Jacob looked pale on the drive.  He said it didn't hurt at first but was really hurting now.  I took him in and Jared and the boys waited in the van.  We were there for about an hour.  Jacob was feeling weak as we were checked in.  The nurse and Dr were very nice and Jacob talked and joked with them.  Jacob was very brave and did great!  We stopped at the store for groceries on the way home.  After dinner we worked on the deck.
