Day 4

Grandma made pancakes every morning!

Eli says "this is Eli's bridge"

Pebble Beach

Showing Marsha their rocks

Helping Daddy with the fire

Jared, Eli and I were up around 7am. Jacob and Adam woke up at 8:00. Grandma made pancakes for breakfast. After breakfast we went for a walk around the campground and then to pebble beach. Grandma and Grandpa came to the beach too. The boys rolled up their pants so they could play in the water. Eli fell in the water so we ended up taking off his pants to dry them in the sun. Jacob looked for nice rocks and Adam found some glass. It was such a beautiful day. Around lunchtime we headed back to camp. Daddy and the boys took a bike ride. Eli rode his scooter while I walked by him. Jacob caught a dragonfly and put it in the bug cage. Jared and I cut up veggies for foil dinners. Eli took a nap until dinnertime. We hung out at the campsite and the boys drew on the road with chalk. Daddy and Jacob chopped wood for the fire. It was damp wood so the fire was difficult to start. We took some scooter and bike rides. The boys spent a lot of time playing with Grandma's sidewalk chalk. They played a snail game with Marsha that they really liked. Around 7:30 we went to town for ice cream. The boys got Superman ice cream in bowls. We took a walk around the campground with Grandma before getting ready for bed.

Day 3

A rainy day in Copper Harbor

Jacob's Falls

Adam and Grandma

It rained a lot during the night and continued this morning. After breakfast we played some Uno in the dining fly. Daddy and Adam went down to get coffee and saw Grandma and Grandpa - they're here! They drove to our site and stopped to visit. The boys showed grandma their beds in the camper. Dennis and Marsha also stopped by. While we were walking Eli found a little worm and carried it back. The boys went to Dennis's site to watch him unpack his trailer. After lunch we headed to Calumet. It was a cold day (high 40's) and rainy. We drove by Lake Superior and stopped at Esrey park to climb the rocks by the lake. We also pulled over to watch some kayakers at Great Sand bay. Up the road a little way we got out to see Jacob's Falls. The falls were impressive! In Calumet we stopped at the dollar store to look for rain ponchos since we had forgotten our rain gear. We got back to camp around 4pm. Grandma and Grandpa had their tent and dining fly already set up with help from Dennis and Marsha. After dinner we took a walk around the campground with Grandma. Jacob went ahead of us again with his walkie talkie. Then we took a walk with Grandma and Grandpa over to the fort with our ponchos on. The boys loved their ponchos. Jacob took a different way back to camp and beat us. We were in bed around 9pm.

On Brockway Mt

He found a grasshopper.

Cooking hotdogs on the fire.

Tired boy

It was a cold night but we all stayed warm in our sleeping bags. We were up around 7am. Jacob took a  bike rides this morning and said his hands were freezing. We were able to move sites after breakfast because the campers there left early. We took our dining fly and some other things down first. Then we hooked up the camper to move it.  Jacob fell over the handle on the scooter and landed on his knee. His knee really hurt and it was a little swollen. He set the timer on his watch for Daddy to check his knee every hour. After lunch we took a walk around the campground. Jacob walked ahead of us and we used his walkie talkie. He would give us a wood report or tell us if cars were coming. Adam liked going down the hill while squatting on his scooter. Eli pushed his stroller. After lunch we headed to town to visit with Leslie and see the pottery. Then we walked across the street so the boys could play on the big chair. Eli was nervous on top of it but liked playing underneath. We then walked over to the school playground. The boys had lots of fun on the merry-go-round. Jacob was worried about Eli falling off so he stood by him and said, "If anyone's going to fall its gonna be me." We played "police and bad guy" with the boys. Then we took a drive up Brockway Mt. It was a cool day (50 degrees and cloudy). Got back to camp around 5pm. Jacob and Adam took the walkie talkies to play by the edge of the Lake Fanny Hooe. Eli and I went over there to play with them while Daddy got a fire ready for dinner.  After dinner we took a walk (boys rode bikes) around the campground. Eli rode in the stroller and fell asleep. We walked over to the fort to see Battery D and walk through some of the buildings again. Back at camp we sat by the fire and made smores. We were in bed around 9:30.
