Day 15 (8-13-11)

Where's Eli?

                                                              Boys being tornados

I love this picture
We were up around 7:30. After eating pancakes we started packing for our trip home. Andrew and Noah came over to play. Grandma watched the boys while we were packing. We were on the road around 10am.  The boys did some drawings for each other. Jacob drew Adam the sunset over Lake Superior and Adam drew Jacob a map. Eli slept for about an hour. Jacob made some paper airplanes. The boys got to talk on the phone with Aunt Bippi, who’s in the hospital. We stopped around 1:00 for lunch. Adam slept for almost 2 hrs. The boys liked seeing the map of our trip and where we were on it. Eli would grab his buckle, asking to get out. When I said, “not yet” he’d make a funny face. We got to the Mackinaw bridge around 4:30. There we got out for a stretch. The boys climbed on the rocks byb the lake. We put a quarter in the scope but it didn’t work too well. Eli slept most of the rest of the way home. Jacob didn’t slept the entire trip. The boys all did great. We got home around 7:45. Made mac-n-cheese for a quick dinner. After a shower the boys watched Toy Story 2 and had popcorn. Jared and I unpacked the van.

Day 14 (8-12-11)

Waiting for the Battery D to fire the canon

We walked over to the Fort this morning to watch Battery D fire the canon. After breakfast we took a walk around camp and then over to Pebble Beach. Grandpa was there at the beach too. We walked on the rock along Lake Superior. Then we hiked the trails on our way to the Fort store. Daddy surprised the boys with orange push-ups. Jacob’s foot was bothering him (from stepping on the sharp rock) so he rode on Daddy’s shoulders back to our site. After lunch we headed into town to see Dennis and Leslie. Jacob’s foot was still hurting so he sat in the van for a little while. The boys got to watch Dennis throwing pots. Back at camp we did some packing. The boys and Daddy went on a bike ride to get ice. Adam rode in the child seat on my bike with Daddy. Eli napped until we woke him around 4:30  All three boys napped on the drive to The Hut. Grandma, Grandpa, Eric and his family met us there. We were celebrating Grandma and Grandpa’s wedding anniversary and they bought our meal (Thank you!). The food there was very good and we all had a nice visit. Then we headed to the Berry Patch for ice cream cones. This evening we watched Battery D fire the canons. We made smores and were in bed around 10:30.

Day 13 (8-11-11)

Jacob stepped on a sharp rock and hurt his foot
Eli was acting really goofy during breakfast. We took a walk around camp (boys on bikes). Then Grandma, Andrew, and Noah joined us for another walk. Jacob rode his scooter and Adam walked this time around. We then relaxed at our site until lunchtime. Grandma came over to visit. Eli was being so funny as he chomped on a clothspin. He’d come to us for a laugh and laugh at himself too. Then the boys put clothspins all over Daddy’s head. It was really funny! After lunch we (and Grandma) went to the Great Sand Bay. It was a little chilly but we all had a great time. I was counting to three and jumping into the stream to splash the boys. Then Eli started coming over to me holding his finger up for me to count (and jump). The boys and Daddy had fun playing in the waves. Eli was tired but didn’t want to nap in his peapod. He was playing and fell in the water. Daddy wrapped him in a towel and handed him to Grandma. He fell asleep quickly on her lap. We stopped at the Jampot for goodies before heading back to camp. It was around 5:00 when we got back to camp. While we were getting dinner ready the boys went over to Grandma and Grandpa’s site. After dinner we took a walk with Grandma around the campground. Jacob rode his bike and Adam showed us his new moves on the scooter. We then walked over to the Fort. On the way back we stopped at the dock. Eli was throwing rocks into the lake and then walk out in the water with his shoes on. It was around 9:00 when we got back to our site. The boys were tired so we tucked them in bed. Then Jared and I sat by the fire for a little while.
