Kenzie decorated the cakes with m&m's
opening get well cards
Eli was really fussy this morning and didn't want me to set him down, even to eat his breakfast. The boys played with foam blocks and dominos. After eating lunch we headed to Vikki’s house. We first stopped at Mom's so I could trim her dogs nails and pick up a couple cakes for the party tonight. The boys stayed with Kenzie while I took Vikki to her Dr appointment. I got to hear the babies heartbeats. Back at her house Kenzie, Jacob, and Adam helped me decorate the cakes. This evening we celebrated Dad and Rody’s birthdays. Mom made sloppy jo’s. Eli was still acting fussy. We had a nice time. The kids had a fun time playing together. We got home around 9pm.

Jacob got up to the top by himself (camera died). Eli kept putting his foot on the wall for help too.
Daddy helped him up here
Today is my Dad’s birthday and the boys helped us sing to him on the phone. After church we stopped at meijer for a few groceries. We made pizza for lunch.  Jared changed some old plug outlets and also changed the office outlets to dark brown. This evening we watched a movie and had popcorn and ice cream.

Jacob lost a tooth last night so was excited to find a note and "golden dollar" from the tooth fairy (Daddy;). After going out for drinks and donuts we stopped at Salvation army. We also went to Lowes for paint. While Eli took his afternoon nap we worked on painting Jared's office. The boys really enjoyed helping us paint. We only had one extra brush but they took turns and helped until we were finished. They couldn’t wait to get to use the rollers once the trim was done. This evening we went to Vikki’s house. She’s back home from the hospital and on strict bed rest. I helped her (with her telling where she wanted things) change the babies room around and put up her wall hangings. We then made chicken tacos and rice which was really yummy. For dessert we had ice cream. It was around 11:30 when we got home.

8-25-11

.
Eli woke up around 8:00 and just wanted to cuddle for about an hour. I rocked him and then cuddled with him on the couch. Jacob and Adam were up just after 9:00. We watched Fireman Sam. I cleaned Eli’s wound and changed his bandages. He was breathing hard as I did it and it seemed so painful.  Eli cries if I get to far from him. I was asking him for a kiss and he kept saying “Uh ah” with a grin because he knew I was gonna tickle him. After a few times he’d say “Uh huh” and give me a kiss. He was laying his head on the couch and pretending to snore. Jacob and Adam built with the foam blocks. Eli hasn’t had much of an appetite and won’t sit long in his booster chair before whinning to sit on my lap. Jacob and Adam always chat with Daddy when he calls around lunchtime. Adam was acting goofy today though. I tucked Eli in for a nap around 1:00. Today is Jared’s coworkers last day so they took him out for lunch. Then they are all going golfing. Jacob, Adam and I played with marbles and the marble blocks. Then the boys got out automoblox to play with. Eli felt warm so I took his temp and it was over 102. He was due for his medicine so I gave that to him. After about 1 ½ hrs his temp was down to 99. It didn’t stay down for long and by 8:00 it was back up. We call the doctors office and waited for the nurse to call back. By the time she called back his temp was 104.6. She recommended we take him to the ER. The boys were in bed so I took him and Jared stayed home. We got in a room quickly and they put a bag on him to collect a urine sample.  The nurse gave him ibuprofen. Eli did sleep for a little while. After a couple hours the doctor came in. He checked his thumb for signs of infections but thought it looked good. He said he thought the temp was due to him "coming down with something" and said after checking his urine (which was ok) we could go home. We got home around 2am. He still had a temp so they'd said we could give him some Tylenol too when we got home. I took the bandage off that they gave me at the hospital because they didn’t use non stick gauze and I thought it might be bad to get off tomorrow. We got in bed around 3am. Jared and I joked about how we were gonna get up in 2hrs so Jared said, “Ok – sleep – now.” Just them we heard Norman peeing in our room. I cleaned that up while Jared took him outside.

This evening we took Eli to the hospital for a recheck visit. The doctor said that it looked good and didn't look infected. We need to clean it and change the bandage every day. Sutures come out in 10-14 days. Tonight Eli let me brush his teeth without crying. He's always cried when its my turn to brush his teeth. But tonight he handed me his toothbrush and opened his mouth. Guess it doesn't seem so bad after what he's been through.

Adam has been crawling in our bed in the mornings and falling asleep there. Eli woke up and his bandage was off his thumb. I sat in the chair with him and rolled up the gauze to get ready to put it back on. He only cried when I put the square gauze over his thumb. We got it back on and he wanted down to play. The boys watched Mighty Machines while eating cheerios. Jared took the day off work. We went into town for drinks and donuts. When I asked Eli if he wanted donuts he smiled and said, "Yaaaah!" The boys got out blocks to build with. Eli wanted to be held more that usual and didn't want me getting far from him. Jared went outside to rake up the grass with the lawn sweeper. We had pizza for lunch. Eli went to sleep quickly for his nap. We went outside and hauled out a file cabinet for Jared's office. It was dirty and had some rust on it. We cleaned it up and Jared used a wire brush on his drill to get the rust off. He and the boys then went to the store to get paint. Adam had chocolate on his face and said they had M&M's. Eli had woke up from his nap with the bandage off again. We went outside and the boys played while Jared or I spray painted the file cabinet. The boys played in the sand and rode their bikes in the driveway. We came inside and ate a late dinner. Eli wanted to sit on my lap during dinner.

8-22-11

This evening Eli's right thumb was slammed in a cedar chest lid. I could tell by his scream that it was really, really bad. I picked him up and hurried out the door, yelling for Jared. He came running and calmly said we needed to get to the ER. I looked down and saw that the top of his thumb was just hanging. It was horrible! We wrapped it, got an ice pack, and rushed to the hospital. Adam was really worried and cried that whole way to the hospital. Jacob was also worried but tried to comfort Adam. He told Adam that the doctor would sew it back up just like his friends nose. Jared sped to the ER and dropped us off by the door. There they  checked us in and wrapped his thumb/hand. I tried to comfort Eli while we waited for a room. He only stopped crying for a short time when he saw this large paper mache dog in the room. It was over an hour before they brought him something for pain. Then we took him for x-rays. The x-ray technican gave him a bunch of stickers which he really liked, especially the dog ones. He started acting really goofy. The boys got some crayons and coloring books. Eli kept taking a crayon out of the box I was holding and then dropping it back in and saying, "Uh oh!" The doctor came in after a couple hours. He had Jared and the boys go in the waiting room. I stayed to be with Eli and help hold. The doctor unwrapped his thumb but left the room for a few minutes. Eli's thumb was still bleeding bad with the bandage off. A nurse came in to help also. I sat next to Eli as he lay on the table and held his legs and left arm. The doctor gave him a shot to numb his thumb which he  screamed for. Then they put a ring ternakit on to slow the bleeding - ouch! Eli screamed during most of the procedure and I tried to comfort him. After the top of his thumb was reattatched it  started to turn pink from blood flow which was good. The doctor said he'd repaired alot of fingertips. He did a really good job on Eli's thumb. The nurse then bandaged it up. The doctor said we need to come back in 2 day to have it rechecked and rebandaged.  We got the x-ray results which showed that he also fractured the tip of the bone. Eli got a bear, named Burke, which he gave hugs and kisses. We had to stop at the pharmacy and gas station before going home. It was around midnight when we got home. Adam was a little scared and wanted Daddy to lay with him for a little while. Eli was in a good, funny mood. He went to sleep quickly after we tucked him in.
