Happy Birthday Eli!

14 years old!

Jared threw the knife and it landed in this tree branch

 

We woke up around 7:30 this morning.  Eli was up but he hadn't been up for long. We sang to the birthday boy.  There were donuts for breakfast.  Eli really liked his horse birthday cake.  Adam woke up and we woke Jacob.  Eli was ready to open his birthday gifts!  He got legos, a butterfly knife, balisong trainer, a precision screwdriver (with bits stored in the handle), some throwing knives, a target and some candy. Jared went to town to get our Sat goodies. Eli tried to change the colors on his balisong trainer but some of the screws got stripped. We returned it and ordered another one online. Also a tip on his new screwdriver broke. Bummer. We decided to go to Home Depot and exchange the screwdriver. We brought Basil along on the drive which Eli thought was fun.  Basil didn't really enjoy the trip though.  We went to the pet store and picked out a collar and leash for Basil. Got some cat treats and catnip too.  Nana and Papa called to talk to the birthday boy and invited us out to Culvers for ice cream. We met them there at 1:00. They brought Eli’s birthday gift, a nice pingpong paddle. We had fun!  Thank you Nana and Papa!  Uncle Rody called and talked to the birthday boy.  Jacob had drove separetely and left to go watch Meridian’s festival concert in Bay city. The high school got all 1’s! Jacob was happy to see his friend from Meridian band. We stopped at KFC on the way home so Eli could get some chicken. Jared embarassed him at the window by asking for the order to come in a bucket even thought it wasn't supposed to.  He told them it was Eli's birthday and that he had a fond memory of getting chicken in a bucket. When we got home we set up the target to try the throwing knives. Those look easy but were hard. They take alot of practice.  It was a beautiful day and we had fun!  We play some games, taking turns throwing the knives from different spots. We spent a couple hours throwing knives with Eli. When Jacob came home he tried the throwing knifes. He was really good at it right away and liked it alot. Jared went to town to pick up Papa John's pizza and breadsticks for dinner.  We watched the movie Monsters vs aliens.  Eli worked on building his legos set while we watched the movie.  Jacob had a bad headache and fell asleep in his room with a big ice pack on his head.  He felt better when he woke up.  We got out the cake and lite the candles. I didn't even know that I had bought trick candles.  Eli noticed right away by reading the package.  Nobody was hungry enough for cake. Jared and I played a game of 3-13 and I won.   Jared had to go to town to get Adam's sleeping medicine.  He hasn't had it for a few days and hasn't been sleeping well.  Eli and I went out to the barn to feed the animals.  We gave Bo some treats. We played several games of UNO and Uno flip.  We sure had alot of fun.  It was a great day celebrating our 14 year old!
