Bring the generator close to the house |

This tree on the wire could be the reason our power is out |

3-13 in the dark |
After Jared left with Adam this morning it started sleeting. It was very windy outside today. When I left for school with Eli the van was covered in a sheet of ice. There was thick ice on the windshield that was hard to scrap off. I stopped at the post office on the way home. At around noon I headed into town to do some birthday shopping for Eli. I shopped until it was time to pick the boys up from school. I didn't have to pick up Eli until 4 because he has jazz band. When we got home there was no power. Adam went right away to the barn to get the generator. The boys worked on getting it started. It didn't want to start but Jacob kept working at it until it was running. Jacob then got the pellet burner plugged into the generator and going. The boys hooked up the wifi and the tv. Jared stopped and picked up pizza's on the way home from work. I worked on trying to get air and heat to the fish tanks. I tried making air with potatoes and peroxide. And I used ice melting salt and water bottles to make heat. Neither method lasted very long. I ended up taping some hand warmers to the outside of the tanks with painters tape. They wouldn't stay warm thought covered in tape. So we only covered part of them and that worked to keep them warm. We were able to run an extension cord to Eli's room for his tanks. We watched a movie. Jared and I played 3-13 and I won. Later Jacob asked if we wanted to play another game of 3-13. Jared won. It was fun playing in the dark with the candles.
