We traveled down to GA again this year to see Uncle Dee, Uncle Rick and Mom and Dad at the Monastery. Left on a Tuesday afternoon and stopped for the night in Caryville, TN. Had a good rest and then up the next morning and off to The Monastery. No stop at the lego store this years…boys have out grown it a bit but would still enjoy visiting it and seeing all the cool sets. We got to the monastery around Noon ish I think… then off to the grocery store with Uncle Dee, Uncle Rick, Mom, Adam and myself. Divide and concur we all had our lists and attacked. Adam came with Uncle Rick and I. Uncle Rick was once again very generous and bought the food for the week. Thanks Uncle Rick! We really appreciate it. We brought a game called Skip-Bo and taught Uncle Rick and Uncle Dee how to play. We enjoyed a lot of games of Skip-bo with 4-6 people playing. Teams was the most fun as there is so much to look at and absolutely no table talk. Of course the table talk rule was broken so much I’m not sure if no table talk was the rule or to table talk was the rule. But it was a riot - we sent the game on with Uncle Rick so he can teach folks at the Institution. Lots and lots of laughs and fun. We had fun teasing each other over the week. Those older people on their phones. Taught mom a few tricks on the phone with photos and how to favorite the ones she liked the most so she could find them easier… of course I think that ended up in her favoriting them all. LOL Of course that picture of the Eagles she took was so amazing. Mom was bragging of these two amazing pictures of eagles she took…although she couldn’t quite remember where… well truth be told they were actually pictures she copied off Kimmy’s blog. So that lead to more laughing and teasing mom of her pictures. We went and visited with monks at the bakery and those that came to visit at the house. We got to see the wonderful Taylor shop Fr. Peter Damion operators out of. It was recently redone and is really cool. Fr. Peter Damion is learning a lot. We also got to see the Novitiate which was super cool as well. Ate lots of apple pie - lost track on the number of pies this year. Lots of ice cream was consumed as well. Jacob performed on his clarinet many songs for us all. It was awesome, we all really enjoyed it. Uncle Dee and Eli had a funny exchange going all weekend with various punctuation marks being said back and forth again this year… although they also added numbers. Eli left a surprise for Uncle Dee on the fridge… “question mark?” with the number 85. Had really nice weather and went on some nice walks. Another wonderful Thanksgiving at the monastery. Looking forward to next year.
