8-7-12 (Day 11)

Great Sand Bay

We were up around 8am. After breakfast we took a walk. Then Jared headed to Calumet for gas and a few groceries. I took the boys for a walk to the fort and the playground. The boys went in many of the fort buildings. One of the rooms they could have spent all day in. They really wanted me to come in and play too so I tied Norman up just out the back door. We had a really fun time pretending in there. After a while we moved on and headed to the playground. Eli really liked going across the bridge at the playground. Jacob and Adam loved the glider. I pushed the boys on the swing. We got back to camp just after lunchtime. Daddy had just gotten back too. Jacob spotted a bald eagle flying over Lake Fanny Howe. After lunch we headed to the Great Sand Bay.  Eli found a bug which he carried around in his bucket. He lost it and asked me to help him find it. As we walked around he called it saying, “Come here bug. I miss you!” The boys built damns and played in the lake. We left around 3:30. Jared was walked up the steps with Norman on the leash. Jacob had dropped his flipflop and when Jared bent down to pick it up Norman jerked him forward. He really banged his shin hard – ouch! We stopped at the Jampot for goodies. It was very busy there today. We also stopped at Dennis and Leslie’s to check out the new pottery. Leslie had made the boys clay disk which they will be able to paint with the glazes. They were excited about those and the bags they got to keep them in. This evening Grandma started working on knitting a dishcloth. We got some good laughs as Jared tried to teach her the pattern. We made popcorn and smores. Got to bed around 10:30.
