8-1-12 (Day 5)
We found a crayfish
"Adam's Falls"
Boys in their "hot tub"
We were up around 7:30 but Eli slept in until around 9am. After breakfast we went for a walk around the campground with Grandma. Then Grandma watched Norman while we all took a bike ride over to the Fort store. Grandma gave each of the boys $1. The boys had also brought some of their money from home. Jacob bought a little toy canon and Adam got a bag of cool rocks. All the boys got candy necklaces. Daddy surprised them with orange push-ups. This afternnon the boys played and rode bikes while Jared and I did some knitting. Then we took a walk over to Pebble beach. We hiked the stream from Lake Superior to Lake Fanny Hoe. That was really refreshing on such a warm day! Daddy carried Eli most of the time. We hiked up the falls which Jacob has named Adam’s falls. There were some deep areas in the water that the boys laid in and called their “hot tubs.” They’d lay with the water just over their ears so they could hear the rushing water. Back at our site Jared and I cut up veggies to make “Hobo” dinners. This evening we went to the Berry Patch for ice cream. Eli really liked sitting at the little picnic table. As he sat there he said, “It’s not yours. It’s not Daddy’s. It’s mine!!” Eli didn’t eat any of his ice cream again but had fun playing on the truck. Grandma and Grandpa came over to sit by the fire and brought popcorn. We also made smores. Before bed I took the boys for a walk to the bathroom and we took Leslie’s bat detector with us. We heard several bats which was really cool. Then Jared took the boys for a walk by the lake. After they came back Adam said, “We heard like a thousand bats!” Jacob said, “We heard 43 bats – I counted.” Adam had a hard time getting to sleep tonight. He was really worried about bad guys and bears getting into our camper. He was much better after we shut the windows by him.
