Day 8

Leslie made this cute purse for me from our handspun Romney wool! I LOVE it!!

They caught a chipmunk but it got away before the lid was on.

Watching the duck and ducklings

Getting tips from Grandpa on trapping the chipmunk

Jared and I were up around 6:30 and  Eli woke up around 7:00.  He and Daddy went on a scooter ride .  Eli found a rock he wanted to show Grandpa.  It was tiny and he dropped it on his walk over to their site.  He made a circle around where he thought it dropped but he never did find it.  Jacob woke up and sat with us for awhile.  Then he took Norman for a walk.  After breakfast we took a walk and found some firewood.   Adam rode by with his scooter and asked if we needed help.  He hauled the pile of wood back for us on his scooter.  We went over to the fort to watch Battery D.  After lunch we headed to 10-foot. The boys had so much fun!  There was a log in the water that they were pretending was their ship.  It felt so nice and cool there.  Jared and I took turns relaxing in the hammock.  On the way back to camp we stopped for goodies at the Jampot.  We called my parents and they had a huge surprise for us.  Our well pump broke and we didn't think it could be fixed. So we've been using city water from the house. They surprised us and had it fixed so we have well water again!  Thank you Mom and Dad!!!  We stopped at the shop to visit with Leslie and she gave me this beautiful purse made from our handspun wool! Thank you Leslie!!!  We got back to camp and made pizza's for dinner.  The boys tried to trap a chipmunks.  They started with a pickle jar and some dog food.  Then someone gave them some tips and they came back asking for a box.  We didn't have any boxes but we found a tote that they could use.  They propped the tote up with a stick which had yarn tied to it.  They sat patiently and waited.  The chipmunk kept getting out before the tote closed. Grandpa suggested that they use a shorter stick. After that they caught it three times but it escaped as they tried to get the lid on.  Jared and I brought our air mattress out to see if we could find the leak.  We end up on the ground during the night.  We found the leak and worked on patching that.  Grandma and Grandpa came to sit with us by the fire while the boys were still trapping.  Grandma made the boys some popcorn. Then we had them put the trap away for the night and come sit by the fire with us.  We made s'mores.  We went to bed around 10:30.  There was a huge spider on the lantern right by our bed.  Yikes!  Jared got it.

This was quite a wildlife day, wasn't it? Chipmunks and spiders! I am glad that Jared got the spider more easily than the boys got the chipmunk. Although, I do wonder about the intelligence of the chipmunk, who kept going back to the place where the trap falls. It was either really stupid or really hungry.
