Around 11:00 Eli and I went to the barn to check the ewes. Ewe #33 was in labor. Her water broke and I could see two hooves. I put her in a stall but she was nervous in there. Before letting her back out with the other ewes I checked to make sure it was coming out head first. Eli and I sat watching for over an hour. The ewe was pushing but had no progress. The lambs elbows were stuck in the birth canal so I extended the legs. Then the ewe was able to push him out. I dragged the lamb to a stall and the ewe followed, licking him the whole way. She continued licking while I towel dried him and took care of his umbilical. Eli came with me to get her some warm molasses water. By the time we came back she had delivered a second lamb. This lamb still had the sack around him so I cleared that off. He struggled to breath so swung him by his hind legs a couple times to help expel any mucus. Both are boys weighing 10lbs 4oz and 11lbs 10oz. They are doing very well.
This evening was Jacob last day in his ceramics class. There was a little party and the teacher had the kids pottery on display. Jacob really enjoyed taking this class and wants to sign up for the next one.
Here is a picture of Jacob and his teacher.
Here are some pictures Jacob's teacher took.
