10-28-11

I took Jacob to school this morning and then headed to the grocery store for a few things. Jared took today off work so we could work on the ram’s paddock. Our neighbor, Doug, came over with his tractor and post hole digger. They dug 52 holes, many of which were in clay. I stopped at the bank and gas station to fill up the gas cans. We got home around 9:30. They finished digging holes not long after that. Mom came over around 10:30 to watch the boys. Eli napped until around lunchtime. Jared and I went down to John’s house to clean out his stock trailer which he uses for his cows. Mom had brought Dad’s truck so we hooked the trailer to the truck to bring home. I drove that while Jared drove John’s tractor. At home we used John’s tractor to pull post from the ram’s paddock. Adam came outside to watch. After finishing that and a couple other jobs with the tractor we took it back to John’s. Adam drove along with us. I went inside and my Mom had shampooed our carpet and was working on scrubbing our kitchen floor! The carpet had a lot of stains but now looks new – thank you Mom!!!  Jared and I then set the post’s in the dug holes. The holes were full of water which made for a muddy mess. The clay would stick to our boots making them really heavy. Mom and the boys came out several times to check on us or give us drinks/snacks. Mom, the boys, and I drove down the road to get Jacob off the bus. At home I packed Eli’s bag and some other things he needed for spending the night with Nana and Papa. Mom made rolls and left a few for us. They were really yummy! Eli was definitely a “Nana’s boy” today. When I picked him up to go to the van he didn’t even want me to carry him but begged for Nana. Nik came over and invited the boys to come to his house. They went over there for awhile. Vikki brought Kenzie over to spend the night. And they brought us breadsticks from Fazoli’s – thanks Vik! Kenzie and Adam were a big help with putting up fence. We worked until it was too dark. Kenzie parked the lawn tractor in the barn. Then we went to Fazoli’s for a late dinner.
