8-25-11

.
Eli woke up around 8:00 and just wanted to cuddle for about an hour. I rocked him and then cuddled with him on the couch. Jacob and Adam were up just after 9:00. We watched Fireman Sam. I cleaned Eli’s wound and changed his bandages. He was breathing hard as I did it and it seemed so painful.  Eli cries if I get to far from him. I was asking him for a kiss and he kept saying “Uh ah” with a grin because he knew I was gonna tickle him. After a few times he’d say “Uh huh” and give me a kiss. He was laying his head on the couch and pretending to snore. Jacob and Adam built with the foam blocks. Eli hasn’t had much of an appetite and won’t sit long in his booster chair before whinning to sit on my lap. Jacob and Adam always chat with Daddy when he calls around lunchtime. Adam was acting goofy today though. I tucked Eli in for a nap around 1:00. Today is Jared’s coworkers last day so they took him out for lunch. Then they are all going golfing. Jacob, Adam and I played with marbles and the marble blocks. Then the boys got out automoblox to play with. Eli felt warm so I took his temp and it was over 102. He was due for his medicine so I gave that to him. After about 1 ½ hrs his temp was down to 99. It didn’t stay down for long and by 8:00 it was back up. We call the doctors office and waited for the nurse to call back. By the time she called back his temp was 104.6. She recommended we take him to the ER. The boys were in bed so I took him and Jared stayed home. We got in a room quickly and they put a bag on him to collect a urine sample.  The nurse gave him ibuprofen. Eli did sleep for a little while. After a couple hours the doctor came in. He checked his thumb for signs of infections but thought it looked good. He said he thought the temp was due to him "coming down with something" and said after checking his urine (which was ok) we could go home. We got home around 2am. He still had a temp so they'd said we could give him some Tylenol too when we got home. I took the bandage off that they gave me at the hospital because they didn’t use non stick gauze and I thought it might be bad to get off tomorrow. We got in bed around 3am. Jared and I joked about how we were gonna get up in 2hrs so Jared said, “Ok – sleep – now.” Just them we heard Norman peeing in our room. I cleaned that up while Jared took him outside.
