Happy 1st Birthday Eli!!!

Eli woke up to nurse around 4am. After nursing I tucked him back in his crib. I woke Jacob for school around 7am. Jared and I had decorated the house last night and Jacob liked seeing all the decorations and  balloons. He asked how old Eli was today. Eli woke up around 7:30. We walked into his bedroom singing Happy Birthday. He really liked all the decorations and reached up to touch them. Jacob said to him, “I can’t believe my baby boy is 1. Soon your gonna have a wiggly tooth like me.” Daddy took Jacob to school this morning. Soon Adam was awake too. He was excited to give Eli the present he’d wrapped for him. Yesterday he wrapped two of his own matchbox cars to give him. Eli liked them and made noises as he pushed them. Eli was clapping his hands to the music on our drive to church. We stopped at Tim Hortons to get Timbits for a snack. Daddy took the day off work and Adam got to stay home with him. Eli had fun playing at church. He pushed the grocery cart a little ways while walking behind it. He gave a lot of cute smirks to the lady who was there to help me. We got home around noon. After feeding Eli his lunch I tucked him in for a nap. He was so sleepy.  Adam had already eaten lunch. He and Daddy had built a large tent with lots of blankets. Adam was tired and I had him lay down to rest. He fell asleep and slept until we woke him and Eli around 3:30. I got a little nap in too. Jacob was so excited to be picked up by Daddy at school today. We headed over to the Fitness and Recreation Center to go swimming. There they had open swim today from 4-6pm. On the drive Eli was sticking his tongue out at his brothers and they were laughing at him. The leasure pool at this fitness center is really nice. It gradually goes from 0-3.5 ft deep and has a slide and curent channel. There is also some fountains for the kids to play in/with. We all had a great time in the pool. Eli clung to me at first but soon loosened his grip and started spashing. He still didn’t want me lifting him above the water and would grab tight to my hair if I tried to. Nana and Kenzie came there to swim for about an hour. Eli was happy to see Kenzie and right away reached out for her to hold him. The boys were hungry when we left there and asked to go to McDonalds. We did and they had fun playing in the play area after eating. Though Adam wouldn’t go thru it without Daddy. I was going to take Eli in but Adam had an accident and we decided we’d better get home for cake and ice cream. First we let Eli open his presents. Jacob made an anouncer funnel from paper and was the anouncer while Eli opened his presents. Jacob and Adam were excited about the presents and helped Eli open them. Eli got a bilibo, water bottle, umbrella, piggy bank, some balls and a box of kleenex. We then sang Happy Birthday and ate cake. Adam and Jacob helped Eli blow out his candle. Eli didn’t eat much of his cake but had more fun playing with it. He wasn’t so sure about his messy hands and was happier with a spoon. After a while of playing in it he decided it was fun to throw it, by the handfull, off his tray to the dogs. At bedtime Eli took turns laying with his brothers in their beds. Then he got to play with his new toys for a little while. He loves his new balls and also likes putting toys into his bilibo. He was so tired when I tucked him in bed. We had a great day celebrating Eli’s turning 1 year old!

Yes, that's a great picture of Eli in the pool (is it Kenzie holding him?) with that terrific smile.

It was such a fun-filled day! I am sure everyone will have great memories of his first birthday!

No, no, now I see the strap of the swimsuit. It is Nana holding him.
