Day 8 (8-6-11)

After breakfast we took our morning walk (bike ride) around camp. Today was the day of the Triatholon. We got out the sidewalk chalk and had fun decorating the road with it. Grandma and Marsha also helped. I helped the boys make roads and train tracks. We traced Jacob and Adam’s bodies on the road and Eli wanted to be traced too. Then Jared and I traced each other. We went for another walk before eating lunch. Adam saw a bee and as he backed away from it he fell into the firepit. Around 1:00 we headed to the Great Sand Bay. We were on really low fuel so, since the all three boys had fell asleep, we kept driving to Calumet for gas. They continued sleeping until we woke them when we got back to the Great Sand Bay. It was a beautiful day outside, low 70’s. We all had such a fun time. Eli found a little rock that he pick up and threw into the water over and over. Jacob worked on rebuilding a sand castle that someone else had built. Jacob and Adam ran down the big sand hill several times. The water in the stream was so cold that Lake Superior felt warm. Norman got to go for a swim too. We got back to camp around 5pm and Jared started a fire for our foil dinners. Andrew and Noah came over to play. After dinner we took a walk (boys on scooter). Grandma joined us on our walk. Adam wiped out a couple times. Grandma and Grandpa came over and we made smores. Adam was standing up in his bed and fell back onto the floor.

Day 7 (8-5-11)

Pancakes!
Riding around the campground
Adam was up first this morning and crawled into our bed. He said, “I looked at my owies this morning…and they were still there!” Andrew and Noah went over to our site to play with the boys while we visited. Jacob (with Uncle Eric) took his grader down to Dennis’s site to be fixed. We took a walk around the campground with Eric and family and Grandma. Jacob and Adam both wiped out on their bikes. At around 11:30 we headed to Eagle River. Grandma rode with us. Eric, Kat and the boys came too. We ate lunch (pb&j sandwiches and pringles) on the beach. Jacob and Adam ran to greet Andrew and Noah when they saw them coming. Eli clung to me at first. He liked when I played ring around the rosie and dipped his toes in the water. Soon he was happy and playing in the shallow water. After a while though he got sleepy so I tucked him in his peapod for a nap. Jared and Eric took the boys out in Lake Superior. We spent a few hours on the beach and had a great time. I woke Eli as we were getting ready to leave. We stopped at the Jampot for goodies. There we realized Adam’s flip flop had fallen out of the van and, before going back to camp, we went back for those. We got back around 4:30. Jared got a fire going for our dinner. We relaxed in the shade at our site for awhile while the boys played in the dirt. Then the boys and I took a bike ride. After dinner we took a walk (bike ride) around camp. Grandma and Grandpa came over and we made smores. We gave Eli another smore and he ate some of the marshmellow using his finger. Eli sat on Grandma’s lap and was giggling.

Day 6 (8-4-11)

Showing Grandpa what they found
Eli likes wearing these floaties
Adam with his "soap"

During our morning walk Adam took a hard fall off his bike.  Back at our site we packed for a trip to the beach. On our way to Eagle River we stopped at the Central mine to see if Grandpa was there. He was and we went out on the mine. The boys couldn't climb around on the rocks much as they had only wore flip flops. They did find several rocks that they wanted to keep. We got to Eagle River shortly after 11:00. Eli was acting really tired. I tucked him in for a nap in his peapod after we ate our lunch. The boys found a couple large logs and played with those for a long time. Eli slept for a couple hours until I woke him around 3:00 as we were leaving. Back at camp Andrew came over to play with the boys. Eli took another nap as he was still acting very tired. We played card games with the boys. Then Jared and I played a game of 3-13. After dinner we took a walk around the campground. Then Adam, Jacob, and I took a bike ride. We walked over to Pebble Beach. Eli loves throwing rocks in the water. Adam was pretending a rock was a bar of soap as he washed up in the lake. On our walks to and from Pebble beach we cross a road and a bridge. There is a ledge on the bridge that the boys like to walk on. Adam wasn’t paying attention and fell off at the end and got hurt. He rode on Daddy’s shoulders the rest of the way back. This evening Grandma and Grandpa came over to sit by the fire and we made smores.

Day 5 (8-3-11)

Adam watching Grandpa work on his stick
The boys must have an alarm set for 7:30:) Adam cried about wearing his patch sweatshirt but got used to it after a little while. He really doesn’t like wearing anything with a hood. When he does wear a hooded sweatshirts he usually prefers the hood up. Jacob was excited about the walking stick Grandpa made for him. After breakfast Grandpa finished a walking stick for Adam. Norman stayed with Grandma and Grandpa while we took the boys to the Fort store. They enjoyed their orange push-ups. We then walked through many of the Fort buildings. After lunch we headed to Dennis and Leslie’s. Lela gave me some birthday money (thank-you!) and I got a mug and some beads with it. Dennis was throwing pots which the boys were interested to watch.  We walked to the Laughing Loon shop and then over to the school. The boys had a great time playing at the school playground. We got back to camp around 3pm. Jared and Adam went to town to get some wood. We cut up veggies for our foil meals. The boys and I took a bike ride. Then Adam asked to ride in the child seat on my bike. I took him around a couple times and then Daddy took him around. We went out for ice cream cones at the Berry Patch. From there we took a drive up Brockway Mountain to watch the sunset over Lake Superior.
