Grandma and Grandpa arrived from Carmel Monday afternoon. Grandma brought up some nice pansy’s to plant and quickly had them potted in the planter by the porch. She also brought some bulbs for Eli to plant in a plastic planter with lots of cool Lake Superiors rocks and some lettuce seeds for the garden. We took a few walks in the woods, checked out the sheep and played a lot of 3-13 card games. We gave mom some blue bird houses to take back to Carmel with her. The 3-13 games were a riot. Even though I (Jared) did not win a single game. It was a bit rough. I came in 4 or last for most of them. Jacob, Kimmy Grandpa, Grandma and myself played. One funny moment came when Grandma and Kimmy were distracted looking out the window at some deer during one of our 3-13 games. Grandpa made a mistake and discarded a wild - Queen of diamonds. The discarded wild should of gone to Kimmy but she was distracted by the deer. Jacob quickly whispered to Grandpa “that’s a wild”, Grandpa quickly picked up the Queen of Diamonds and a lot of hooting and hollering commenced. Typically as soon as it’s played it’s up for grabs. I didn’t see a thing (maybe). Well grandpa kept the Queen of Diamonds, and then continued to go out the next 4 rounds winning the game. With this particular deck of cards there is a picture on the queen of diamonds. It’s a picture of a deer and so more hooting and hollering. It was quite the rowdy game. So needless to say each time that queen of diamonds showed up there are various comments made. We played 6 games all together, Grandpa won 1, Grandma won 1, Jacob and Kimmy each won 2 games each. … and yes I did not win any. boo hoo. Funny since I kept score the whole time. Pretty poor score keeper that can’t win. I need to learn to cheat better. We had a good time. Adam and Eli spent a lot of time out on the sand hill getting sunburned and digging gigantic holes. We took a few walks out to see their creations.Grandma and Grandpa left wednesday morning.
That night Jacob Kimmy and I played 3-13. I crushed it and won big time…
