Vikki and the kids came over today. Max came too and had lots of fun! He loved playing in the water/ice/mud. It was a beautiful day.

Picnic
This afternoon Jared and I were outside cleaning stalls and looked out in the paddock to see a bald eagle circling over our paddock. We watched it for awhile until it flew away.
Ewe#16 had a slight prolapse so we put in a prolapse retainer.
This evening Jared and I went out to the barn to fix ewe #16's prolapse retainer. I looked around at the ewe's and lambs and noticed that one of the lambs was struggling to stand. Then I noticed that it didn't have an ear tag either. Ewe #47 had just delivered twins. Jared went to the house to get Kenzie and I moved the ewe and lambs to a stall. Kenzie clipped/dipped the lambs and we stripped the ewe. Both lambs are boys, weighing 11 lbs 3 oz and 7 bs 15 oz. We couldn't get the smaller lamb to nurse so we tubed it some colostrum from its mom. After a couple hours its mouth was feeling a little cool so we tubed it a couple more oz of colostrum. By our next check at 5am both lambs had nice warm mouths and were doing good.

Marcia and Dennis brought their grandkids over this afternoon.
Dominic was a little nervous around those loud sheep but Brooke seemed to like them. She held a chicken and a lamb. She also collected an egg to take home.
We made pizza for dinner.

We came out around 2:30 am to check the sheep and Ewe # 38 (who we pulled dead lambs from last year) had delivered two stillborn lambs. This morning, after taking the boys to school, I went to the barn to feed the sheep. Ewe #46 had just deliver a lamb by the hay feeder. Its a single girl weighing 11 lbs 8 oz. Jared came home from work for the day.
After the boys were in bed Jared met Vikki halfway to get Kenzie. She is going to be staying with us on spring break.

Ewe #614 delivered twins this evening. Kenzie assisted in delivering the first lamb. These lambs were boy/girl weighing 7 lbs 6 oz and 6 lbs 3 oz. After a long time working to get them to stand the girl still couldn't. The lambs were weak so we tubed them some colostrum. We couldn't get the girl to nurse so we continued tube feeding her. She had white muscle disease and died a few days later. The boy ended up dying too. We believe he also had white muscle disease.
Notice the hind legs on the lamb Kenzie is helping. When she did learn to walk this is how she stood.
Too bright!
