The sheep judging started at 9:00 and we got to the fair around 8:00. The boys were really nervous. We sat on the bleachers and got to watch a few shows with the older kids before they had to go in. The first show that they were in was for showmanship and there were a lot of kids in this beginners class. Jacob won 6th place in showmanship. And both boys won a ribbon in the market class. Jacob kept saying, "That was really fun!" He said his goal now is to win a ribbon in every class. Both boys did great!

Watching the cow show
This afternoon we decided to shear Oscar, our ram. We wanted to shear him before putting him out with the ewes. We got 10 lbs of wool from him! Then we had to separate the ewes from the lambs. We were glad to have some extra hands to help make sure the sheep didn't go back out the open gate. Its really good to have this job done. The boys have barn duty every evening so we went there to check on the animals. We also got to watch some of the cow show. The boys rode home with Grandma and Grandpa and Jared and I stopped at meijer for some vanilla ice cream. Grandma made some yummy blackberry jelly! And also blackberry and blueberry (from Copper Harbor) jelly.
