This morning Jared and I checked on the sheep and noticed some changes with Ewe #33. So we were thinking she would having her lambs today. Jared headed to work and I took the boys to school. I fed the animals as soon as I got home from school. I noticed that Ewe #82 ran to the corner after eating and was straining. I went inside for a couple minutes and then came back out. Now Ewe #82 had a lamb coming. I called Jared and he came right home. Now Ewe #33 was off to the corner and was straining and pawing. Soon after Jared came home #82 delivered her first lamb. It was a boy weighing 12 lbs 15 oz. The next lamb came hind feet first so Jared delivered this one. It was another boys and weighed 11 lbs. Jared had the company car and wanted to take it back to work. He got back home and decided to take the rest of the day off work. The weather was beautiful today. We took a walk out to see Oscar and Clarence. Came back in the barn and could see a sac coming. I decided to break the sac and collect the flu. This ewe has had a single before so I was hoping to graft the triplet lamb onto her if she just had one. We check the ewe and found that this lambs elbows were stuck. I told Jared how to deliver it and he did great! It was a huge boy lamb weighing 14 lbs 15 oz! After about 30 minutes I checked the ewe and couldn't feel another lamb. We drenched the triplet lamb in afterbirth and rubbed it together with the new lamb. Then we dragged both lambs to a new stall with the mom following and licking them both. We also sprayed the ewes nose with a fragrance. She quickly accepted both lambs. All sheep and lambs are doing great!
This is ewe #82 with her twins!
