Copper Harbor 2014 - Day 1

We're in the UP!!!

At the Hilltop

Stone boat

Pebble beach

We woke up around 3:30am.  All three boys were sleeping on the floor in our bedroom.  Adam sat up right away and said, "Is it time to leave for Copper Harbor?"  The boys were so excited!  Jacob and Adam had both made lists of things they didn't want to forget.  Eli also had me write a list for him.  We were on the road shortly after 4am.  Eli, Adam and I slept some until we got to the Mackinaw bridge but Jacob stayed awake.  We woke Eli so he could see the bridge as we drove over it.  There was an orr boat in Lake Michigan that was close to the bridge.  We got out at the gas station to stretch and ate pop tarts for breakfast.  The boys watched the Lego movie, Spirit and some Loonie Tunes while we drove.  We stopped in Munising for drinks.  Arrived in L'ance around 11:30 and stopped at the Hilltop restaurant for sweet rolls and chocolate milk.  Eli didn't like the sweet rolls.  Jacob said, "We have the BEST vacation, don't we?" We stopped for gas in Calumet.  Got out in Kearsarge to climb on the stone boat. We arrived in Copper Harbor around 2pm.  Took a drive around the campground before heading to the gate house to check in.  It took us a little while to figure out where we were going to set up our new tent and dining fly but it was fun.  It started to sprinkle just before we got the rain fly on the tent.  Then it rained.  The boys took a bike ride in the rain.  They walked over to Lake Fanny Hooe.  We got done setting up camp around 6pm.  Had turkey sandwiches and chips for dinner.  After dinner we walk over to Pebble beach. The boys threw rocks in the water.  It started to thunder so we headed back to camp.  Got in bed just before 8pm.  Daddy told the boys old Truman stories.  We started reading the 4th book of 39 Clues.
