This evening Vikki and I attended a Roman banquet at Kenzie's school. Kenzie was in a skit and did great! We had so much fun!
This morning we had a meeting to got over the results of Jacob's testing. Because Jacob was tested at the school she did think she needed to retest him on some areas including the IQ test. She did look at his word reading and fluency which are still a problem. Jacob doesn't have good word attack skills. He struggles to decode words and often figures words out based on how they are used in the sentence. The results of Jacob's ADHD quotient are that he is very likely (95%) to have it. She recommends medicating Jacob for this. We need to make an appointment with Dr Thill to discuss our options. This won't solve all the problems but it will be easier for him to learn if he's paying attention. Jacob has a "double wammy" with Inattention and a Learning Disability. With medication at least it will take one thing "off the table". If we do choose to medicate we will redo the ADHD quotient a few weeks after we think we have the right medication.

I think you are on the right track. I've been with children who have had similar needs. Give it a try.
