The boys have been wanted to be parent pick up (rather that riding the bus) so I did that today. It was a half day and they were out around 11:30. They were very excited about being picked up. This afternoon we had Parent/Teacher conferences. They went fine but we were exhausting after they were done. Adam teacher says that he is doing well in math. He is struggling in reading, lacking confidence and giving up quickly. She said he may qualify for their Title 1 program. He knows his sight words well and does good on his spelling tests. She also mentioned that he is easily distracted. He is well behaved in class. We had about 1 1/2 hr wait until Jacob's conference so we walked around at the Book fair. Then we took the boys outside to play on the playground for awhile. Our conference for Jacob was with Mr Henderson and Mr Goff (Special Ed. teacher). Mr Goff started off by showing us a paper that Jacob wrote during his class. Jacob had 15 minutes to write and only wrote a couple sentences whereas the other kids (in the Special Ed class) wrote much more. He seems to be getting distracted and/or fatigued during writing. Mr Henderson also showed us a paper that Jacob had a hour to write which was about a half page. He did mention that Jacob has been writing more this week though he hasn't reviewed that work yet. Jacob's desk is very unorganized and he often loses things. He will lose a pencil and wait 10 min before saying something about it. He usually forgets to write his name on his papers but Mr Henderson is too concerned about that. They also discussed some things about Jacob's reading comprehension which he is struggling with. Since we just had an IEP meeting Mr Goff didn't have a updated progress report but we will be getting one from him in about a month. Mr Henderson and Mr Goff both agreed that they would take a whole classroom full of Jacob's. He is very respectful, polite and works hard. The boys brought their money and wanted to buy something at the book fair so we went back to do that before leaving.
