Jacob's
Estivant Pines
Grandpa showing the boys what he found.

Jared and I were up around 7am. It was nice, cool morning. Eli and Adam woke around 8:00 and Jacob slept until 9:00. After breakfast I took Adam and Eli for a walk over to the dock. We sat there and enjoyed the cool breeze by the lake. A friendly boy chated with us there. Jacob was awake and had finished his pancakes when we got back. We took our morning walk/bike ride with Grandma . Jacob found a quarter and some firewood. We then relaxed at the campsite until lunchtime. Around 1:00 we headed over to Dennis’s shop. Grandma, Grandpa, Eric and his family were there too. Leslie had finished the boys necklaces which they were excited to see. We headed to Estivant Pines to hike the trails there. Eli slept in the carrier for awhile. Jacob and Adam were great hikers and lead us all the way. We had so much fun and the huge pine trees were so beautiful. Eli loved walking on the board bridges. We got back to camp around 5pm. Jacob, Adam, and I took a walk (boys on bikes then on scooters) around camp. Jacob put his bike helmet on Eli and Eli cried when he took it off. Eli was happy though when Jacob put his (Eli’s) helmet on him. After dinner we went for a walk. The boys built a log cabin with the firewood.  Eli fell asleep on Grandma’s lap as we sat by the fire this evening.

Day 11 (8-9-11)

                                                          Boys in their patch sweatshirts.
Checking out an inch worm.
Painting disks with glaze
Into the kiln

During the night there were thunderstorms. Jared, Eli, and I woke up around 8:30 and Jacob and Adam were up around 9:00. Grandma, Noah, and Andrew came with us on our walk after breakfast. Andrew  wanted to push Eli in the stroller again. Jacob and Adam rode their bikes. We put a card on Adam’s bike so he could have a motor too. Then we walked over to Pebble Beach. On the way there Jacob found a caterpillar that he wanted to keep. He and Daddy took it back to put in the bug cage while we continued on to the beach.  At the beach we found an inch worm. Adam and Eli got right up close as they watched it move on the sand. When Jacob got there Adam gave the inch worm to him. Jacob carried it back with us to add to his bug cage. After lunch we went to town to see Dennis and Leslie. Dennis was raku firing today. Leslie had made the boys clay disk to paint with glazes. Then Dennis put their disks into the kiln. We visited while we waited to see their finished pieces. Once they were cool enough the boys helped Leslie polish them. They really had a great time doing these, Thank you Dennis and Leslie!!! Eli sat in the chair for a long time but got sleepy. I put him in the carrier and he fell asleep. Around 3:00 we took a drive to the Jampot. It was a cool, windy day (high 60’s) so we drove on to Eagle River to see the waves there. We stopped at a roadside park on the drive back to camp and hiked over the rock wall. It felt chilly up there. We then drove up Brockway Mountain. We went in the store on the mountain and the boys got patches for their sweatshirts. I started sewing those on as we drove back to camp. After dinner we took a walk around the campground. Grandma and Grandpa walked with us. The boys rode their scooters. Eli was so tired and almost fell asleep in the stroller. We sat by the fire and made smores. Eli sat on Grandma’s lap for awhile but was so sleepy. I tucked him in bed and he was asleep quickly. Jacob was excited to wear his camouflage pj’s tonight. It was a nice, cool night. We were in bed around 10pm.

Day 10 (8-8-11)

Helping Andrew push
Changing into Toy Story characters. Andrew's pushing the buttons to change the boys into Buzz's.
Adam crawled into our bed this morning around 7:30. We took our morning walk after our pancakes. Soon Grandma, Andrew, and Noah joined us on our walk. We put a card in the spokes of Jacob’s bike. He called it his motor. We walked around the campground again and Andrew pushed Eli in his stroller. The boys played until around lunchtime. Andrew liked playing with the “talkie walkies”  and we played Toy Story. After lunch we all headed out to the Great Sand Bay. Eli slept on the drive there. We all had fun. Grandma got wet falling into the water as she was trying to help Noah. Andrew asked me to take him in the tunnel which goes under the road. The kids liked hearing their echos. We headed back around 3pm. Adam has had more accidents on this trip so we were running out of underware for the boys. We decided to take our laundry to the laundry mat. The boys liked being there and put the coins in the washers. While we were in there Norman had diarrhea in the van. That was a mess to clean up. We got back to camp around 6pm. The boys helped me hang clothes up to dry while Jared made dinner. Eli took a nap and I fed him a late dinner. We went out for ice cream cones this evening. After the boys were in pj’s we took a walk around the campground. We were in bed around 10pm.

Day 9 (8-7-11)

On the hike to Hunter's Point
Driving
Ready for lunch

                                                                 Hunter's Point
Eating cheerios in their Dennis bowls
Jacob teaching Eli how to blow in the whistle (bullet)

It rained during the night. Jacob was helping Grandma with pancakes this morning and she asked him to put the water in. He poured the water onto the the electric skillet which had hot oil on it. He was surprised by the loud noise it made. He kept telling Grandma, “You should have told me.” Grandma laughed and later told him she found a new way to clean her skillet. After our morning walk we headed over to Hunter's Point. We hiked to the beach and walked along Lake Superior. Then we just sat in the rocks and relaxed. Jacob and Adam played on the big rocks by the lake. It was warm in the sun so we moved to the shade and ate lunch. After a little while we hike over the rocks to the point. Eli was very tired in the carrier on Daddy’s back. He was happy as long as he had his blanket and after a little while he fell asleep. On the way back we stopped to get steward pop’s. The boys got crème sodas. Then we went to visit with Leslie at the shop. Jacob showed me a bowl he thought would be perfect for cheerios. We let the boys pick out a small bowl which they wanted to use right away back at camp. Eli took a nap. The boys played at Grandma and Grandpa’s site while Jared and I took Norman to fetch sticks in the water. Jared threw it out pretty far once and Norman stopped swimming and started to sink. We relaxed in the shade at our site. Grandma, Grandpa, Eric and Andrew came over to visit. We took a walk after dinner. Dennis let the boys sit in his kayak which they really enjoyed. We made smores again this evening. Grandma and Grandpa came over.
