1-16-19

It was very slick outside and sleeting all night.  Jared came out at 1:00 and then I did the rest of the night checks so he could get a few hours of sleep.  I was sure there was going to be a snow day and I could take a nap.  At 4am I went out for a check and she had just lambed.  I made sure the lamb was breathing and then called Jared.  He hurried out to the barn.  We got Fryne and her lamb in the stall and towel dried him as Fryne continue to lick him.  Then we clipped, dipped, and stripped.  Then we tube fed the lamb 120cc's of colostrum and game him nutri-drench.  We helped him figure out how to stand while we waited for another lamb.  At 5:00 I checked her and didn't feel any lambs.  We went inside for 30 minutes.  By 6:00 she delivered her placenta.  We were really hopping for twins but are happy with a healthy single.  This boys lamb weighs 11.6 lbs.  Fyrne seems to have enough milk to support triplets.  This is the first year Fryne has lambed without assistance.  Jared headed to work and I couldn't sleep from all the excitement so I drank some coffee and waited for the boys to wake up.  Adam and Eli woke up around 8:00 and they were super excited about another snow day.  I told them Fyrne had lambed and they wanted to go see the lamb.  Jacob woke up after we had headed to the barn but he came out and found us.  He knew about the lamb because he'd woke up at 4:00 when I called Jared.  Adam named this lamb King because he has white crown.  The sun had melted the ice so after lunch we headed to Nana and Papa's.  Jacob, Nana, Papa and I played a game of 3-13 and Papa won!  The boys had fun playing mario on the Wii.  Mom made pizza and egg salad sandwiches.  Around 3:00 we headed over to visit Vikki.  Wyatt had fun playing with Lucy.  We got home around 6:00.  Fryne's lamb is doing great.  The boys were too full from pizza for dinner.  Jacob, Jared and I played a 3-13 up and down and I won!
