Opening presents

Adam wanted to make sure his ice cream was in the picture.

Adam woke up just after 5am.  He came to lay on our bedroom floor and talked until it was time to get up.  He was so excited. We were up around 6am.  Adam was going to open his presents when he got home from school but he was too excited and decided to open them this morning.  He got a minecraft legos set, a cot, markers, a sketch book,  pop its,  a nerf football, a water rocket, water balloons, and bubble gum.  He loved all his gifts.  He came outside with me and led Della and Oscar to their paddock.  We took cupcakes to school.  I walked Adam to his classroom but he wanted to carry them into his room by himself.  He's usually shy about that kinda stuff.  Eli and I headed to Home Depot to exchange a microwave we'd bought yesterday but it didn't work.  We took Adam a McDonalds happy meal for lunch.  Eli and I played store.  He had sticky note set up to price items and we used foam blocks for money.  Picked the boys up a little early from school.  Adam got right to building his lego set when he got home. This set comes with eight instructions so Adam picked out one to build.  It was a little difficult as its not like the normal legos instruction.  Jacob understood the instructions and had fun helping Adam build this set.  Jacob got out his money to count because he wants to save for this same set.  Jared got home from work around 3pm. The boys played with their legos for awhile. We bought a trash pump/hose from a friend.  Jared hooked up the hose and and set it up to drain the standing water in our yard.  He and Adam headed to TSC for a hose part and got some more hose.  Adam brought home snacks he'd picked out for everyone.  Then we filled up Adam's water balloons.  The boys had fun with silly string.  Eli didn't like getting it on him.  We had a fun water balloon fight.  Nik came over to play for awhile.  The boys played with water and then came inside to play with legos. Then they went back outside to play in the sandbox.  This evening we had pizza for dinner and watched a movie.  Adam and Eli had their cots out to lay on while watching the movie.  Adam said, "Jacob, you can use my cot.  I'll lay on the floor."  Jacob was so happy.  Then Adam also let Jacob pick the movie.  I went out on the deck for a little while and Adam came out and said, "I saw you come out here and I thought you might be lonely."  I sat on the glider and held the birthday boy.  He then got the kittens so we could hold them.  We sang to Adam and had cake/ice cream.  Adam wanted to come outside with me to take care of the animals this evening.  It was a really fun day celebrating Adam turning 8.
