Watching the chickens and sheep
Tonight was Parents vs boys for Jacob's last soccer practice. It was alot of fun!
Jared took the boys to school this morning. We had a 9:00 IEP team meeting scheduled today. Vikki came to spend the day with us and stayed with Eli while Jared and I headed back to school. Mrs Barrett (Principal), Mr Henderson (Jacob's teacher), and Mr Goff (Special Ed teacher) attended the meeting. Jacob is still reading at a level I with goals to improve his reading comprehension at an instructional level J. Monthly short term objectives are that he will use decoding strategies on his own and will identify chunks of a multisyllable word. Jacob will still be meeting 30 min/day with a small group in Mr Goff's class. He will also have test read to him in an alternative setting. Jacob will sit near the front of class as to minimize/reduce distractions. Mr Henderson brought Jacob's math test in to show us that he got 24/24 (one of only 2). They have math homework every night and Mr Henderson has been impressed with Jacob's. Jacob started off really struggling with multiplication and division. We always check his work and he often has to redo problems but he has gotten good at them. Now he is learning about time using an analog clock and is struggling with that. He seems to have forgotten how to subtract double digits. Jacob loves doing good in math and being able to say, "I'm really good at math!" He teaches us neat little math tricks. Jacob has alot of friends and his
self esteem this year has really improved! We do have an appointment for Jacob to be tested by a child psychologist and will have another meeting to go over the test results of that. The meeting today went well and we really like this years team.
