Day 4

Grandma's pancakes are the best!!

Jared and I were up around 7:30 and Adam was up at 8:00. Adam and I took a bike ride and found a few pieces of fire wood.  Grandma and Grandpa came over to visit until the other boys woke up.  Jacob and Eli were up around 9am.  Grandma made pancakes this morning and every morning for the rest of our trip - thank you!!!  We took a walk around the campground with Grandma.  Jacob and Adam rode their bikes.  Then we walked with Grandma and Grandpa over to Pebble Beach.  We hiked along the beach and then took the trail over to the Fort playground.  The boys had lots of fun!  They started off saying, "Daddy can get me!"  But Daddy did get them many times - haha.  On our walk back to camp Daddy walked ahead and stopped in the Fort store.  He surprised the boys with orange push ups.  After lunch the boy played with chalk in front of Grandma and Grandpa's site.  Around 2:00 we headed into town to visit with Dennis and Leslie.  Dennis was raku firing today.  The boys went across the street to play on the big chair.  Back at camp we got veggies cut up for Hobo dinners.  Jared worked on splitting more wood. After dinner we went for a walk with Grandma.  Eli rode his scooter and went far ahead with Adam.  When he came back around he asked, "Were you worried?" Around 8:30 we went down to the dock to do a little fishing. Grandma and Grandpa joined us by the fire and we made smores.

It rained during the night and continued this morning.  After it stopped raining Jacob and Adam went to the dock to do some fishing.  Not long after they got there it started raining. Adam came back when it was still sprinkling but Jacob came back in the pouring rain.  We played games in the dining fly until the rain let up.  The boys found piles of wood at a few empty sites.  We took a walk with Grandma over to the fort. Got to watched Battery D fire the cannons.  This afternoon we helped Grandma and Grandpa set up their dining fly and tent. Jacob went to the dock to do some fishing. Jared worked on splitting wood.  Then we went to the dock to see how Jacob was doing.  Eli saw the rings on the worms and said, "These worms are wearing rings so they are married." It was dinnertime when we came back. We made hot dogs again for dinner. Adam burned two fingers on the hot dog sticks.  He walked around for awhile holding a cold bag of water.  Eli went in the tent to lay down and didn't want to come out for dinner. He was really tired and fell asleep.  We woke him around 7:30 and he was hungry. At 8:45 we headed to the dock to do some fishing.  Grandma came with us. Jacob caught a Rock Bass almost as soon as he threw in his line.  We stayed there for about an hour but just got nibbles after that.  Got to bed around 10pm.

  We were all up around 6:30 am.  Jacob rode his bike to the dock and did some fishing.  It rained this morning.  The boys wore their ponchos and had fun on their scooters.  They were pretending to be knights as they raced through the puddles.  We took a walk around the campground and over to the fort.  We went through some of the fort buildings.  The boys especially had fun in the jail, bakery, and "play" house.  Battery D is at the fort this weekend. We stayed to watched Dr Bandit do an amputation.  Eli asked, "Is it real?"  Adam was also a little worried during the procedure but Jacob loved it.  We got back to camp around lunchtime.  After lunch the boys rode their bikes.  Eli had fun riding his scooter while we took a walk.  We went to the dock and the boys did some fishing.  Daddy, Jacob and Adam rode their bikes into town.  We met them at the store and got some pops.  We stopped at the shop to visit Leslie and check out the pottery.  Eli wanted to go across the street to see the big chair.  He was nervous on top but had fun underneath.  We took a walk over to the new school playground and the boys had fun there.  Got back to camp around dinnertime.  Eli fell asleep in the van. The boys had found some wood and we made a fire.  We cooked hot dogs for dinner.  Adam  dropped part of his hotdog bun in the dirt.  He didn't want to eat it so Daddy ate it.  Jacob said, "Now that's a man!"  After dinner Jacob and Adam headed to the dock to do some more fishing.  We went over to the dock and then decided to take a walk to Pebble beach.  Grandma came walking on the trail toward us.  Adam was surprised to see her.  Eli, who was walking further back with us, saw her and said, "There's Grandma!" We walked back to our site and got to see Grandma and Grandpa's new van!  Took a walk back to Pebble beach.  Grandma and Grandpa joined us by the fire this evening and we made smores.
