Copper Harbor 2015 - Day 1

Jared and I were up at 2:30. Eli woke up when he saw the lights on and said, "I'm so excited about the tunnels!" Soon Adam was up too and they woke up Jacob. We were on the road by 3:15. Jacob and Eli slept some on the way to the UP but Adam stayed awake. We woke the boys when we got close to the Mackinaw bridge. We got out at the gas station to stretch and had pop tarts for breakfast. The boys watched Chip n Dale and How to train your Dragon episodes. Jared was getting tired so I took over driving for about 1 1/2 hrs. I was glad Jared got some rest. In L'ance we stopped at the Hilltop restaurant for sweet rolls and chocolate milk. Eli was done with the sweet roll after a couple bites and had fun coloring. We got out in Kearsarge to play on the stone boat. We arrived in Copper Harbor around 2pm and took a drive around the campground before checking in. The boys were a lot of help with unpacking the van.  They put things in separate piles for the tent and dining fly.  We spent the next several hours setting up camp and got done around 6pm. We had sandwiches for dinner and then  took a walk over to Pebble beach. We forgot to take Norman with us so Jared ran back to get him - whoops. The boys had fun playing on the beach and throwing rocks in the water. Eli found lots of nice rocks and put them in his backpack to save. We hiked the trail by the beach while Jacob and Adam walked by the water. Then we all hiked the trail back. Adam and I took a bike ride around the campground before bed. We went to bed early tonight and Daddy started reading Huckleberry Finn.

We got most of our packing done yesterday so I got to hang out at Vikki's house today.  We sat on the porch and drank coffee and visited while the kids played.  Then we played around the world.  We left there around 4:00.  Stopped at the library and the eye doctors (to pick up contacts) before heading home.  Did some last minute packing.  We are SO excited about our trip to Copper Harbor.  We plan to leave around 3am.  The boys love getting up in the middle of the night.

We are watching Abby this week.  She likes sleeping in Jacob's bed at night. 

We picked the van up from Drave's today.  This evening we worked on packing the van.

Today we drove to Bay Shore camp in Sebewaing.  My parents and Mel's family are camping there this week.  Vikki met me in Bay city and I followed her the rest of the way.  We got there just after 11:00.  We walked over to look at Melissa and Bruce's new camper.  Then we went back to Nana's site to hang out and have lunch.  At 2:00 we went to ride the zipline.  Jacob, Jack, Hailey, and Max went first.  Isaac and Vikki went next and then Mel and I. We were a little nervous but it was a lot of fun!  Isaac jumped right off.  Adam and Eli didn't want to jump so they stayed with Nana.  Then the kids played laser tag.  We brought some white shirts and the kids had fun making tie dye shirts.  They caught little toads while waiting for everybody to finish their shirts.  Then we headed to the pool to swim.  It was really hot today.  The kids then had fun riding the train.  Jacob and Max didn't ride the train but were having fun finding lots of little toads.  They played with the toads until dinnertime.  After dinner we headed home.  We stopped at McDonalds on the way home and the boys used their cards to buy ice cream.  We stayed so they could play for a few minutes.
