This afternoon Jared and I worked on cleaning up the barn.  We used the tractor to hauled some things down to the dumpster.  Nik came over this afternoon and the boys played in the snow.  I went to town and stopped at the grain elevator for some straw bales.  Then I stopped at meijer for groceries.  Jared and I bedded the stalls to get them ready for lambing.  Eli is getting excited about his birthday in 2 more sleeps!

Muffin with Mom's day!!

Today Eli had an appointment for pictures.  He did so good and said, "That was really fun!"  We rode the escalator up and down many times.  We went to 7 eleven for slurpies and Eli put some of every flavor in his.

Got to hang out at Vikki's house today and Melissa came over for awhile too.  Vikki taught us how to make bows from ribbons.

We found this dead (frozen) hawk in our chicken coop.  Also a fox killed a couple of our chickens.

Eating Daddy's banana bread.  He followed his Grandfather's recipe.

Jacob's 4th grade science fair project.  He had so much fun doing this Egg drop experiment.  He forgot to put captions with his pictures or would have had a perfect score.

Adam's self portrait

Jared made a new spoke using a doll rod and it looks great!

Maude's wool is so pretty.  We have ordered some hand carders.

We are also on the waiting list for a couple ewe lambs from a nearby breeder.  Our plan is to eventually switch from Suffock's to Romney sheep.  Romney sheep are a dual purpose breed, good for fleece and meat.  The breed does well even on poorer pastures.  We are hoping to have two new Romney ewe lambs in April.

Here are some pictures of Romney sheep from the farm we hope to get ours from

Today I worked on washing Maude's wool.  Here is what it looked like after I picked out a lot of hay that was in it.

I filled the washing machine with hot water and added dawn dish soap.  Then I put the wool in and set the timer for about 30 min.  After that I turned the washing machine on the spin cycle.  I did these steps several times and then did it a few more times (minus the soap).

The wool is drying by the corn burner.

I found this spinning wheel on craigslist for a really great price.  I emailed the man and he replied saying it was available and we could pick it up today.  I called Vikki and we planned a road trip to the thumb.  Then I called the man for directions and told him I was coming from Midland.  He said, "How ironic,  I'm heading to Midland right now."  We planned on meeting at GFS in town.  He said two people had called after I did and really wanted it.  Then he said, "The Lord was on your side." Its missing one spoke but works great.  We have some roving wool and had fun practicing spinning this evening.
